Activated carbon filter
Activated carbon filter
An activated carbon filter, or activated charcoal filter, is an exhaust air filter system using activated carbon to effectively absorb odors and vapors.
The extraction properties of an activated carbon filter is based on the absorbing properties of activated carbon. Due to its highly porous structure, the surface are of activated carbon is many times larger than its overall size. During the filtration process, odors, air molecules and other impurities accumulate on the surface and are thus extracted from the production exhaust air. Therefore, an activated carbon filter achieves a very high separation efficiency and is considered a universal agent for odor removal.
KMA Umwelttechnik uses activated charcoal filters especially for odor removal in food productions. To ensure a constant separation efficiency and longlivety of the activated carbon filter, an effective pre-treatment of exhaust air is an absolute necessity, as aerosols and solid particles like dust need to be extracted from the exhaust air before entering the activated charcoal filter.
