Large-size electrostatic filtration system
Large-size electrostatic filtration system

The term large-size electrostatic filtration system refers to a central exhaust air filtration system designed for particularly large exhaust air volumes of 30,000 to 1,000,000 m3/h. The exhaust air streams of several emission sources are bundled and cleaned using a central filtration module.
By using large-size electrostatic filtration systems, air pollution control is also executed in production plants not suitable for a decentralized filter solution. In order to achieve a comprehensive and high-grade exhaust air purification, KMA Umwelttechnik uses its large-size electrostatic filtration systems of the type ULTRAVENT® 30000. This centralized filtration solutions consist of the energy-efficient KMA ULTRAVENT® exhaust air filtration module and custom-made KMA extraction hood. To fully contain the contaminated production exhaust air, KMA extraction hoods are installed above the individual emission sources. When the contaminated exhaust air is emitted during the casting process or after a smoking phase, the exhaust air is contained and transferred to the central filter system via piping systems. Depending on the exhaust air volume, several filter modules can be used in series.
The core of each filtration system is the energy-efficient KMA electrostatic precipitator module. Inside the electrostatic precipitator cell, an ionizer generates a strong electric field while requiring only a very low energy input. The resulting charge difference forces dust particles, smoke, aerosols or other impurities in the incoming exhaust air to the collector plates. Solid residues are accumulate there while liquid residues flow downwards into an external tank. Afterwards, the purified exhaust air flows through further filter components or is transferred via ventilation systems. Thanks to its efficient technology, the KMA electrostatic precipitators achieve a separation efficiency of up to 99.8%.
Just like decentralized KMA exhaust air filtration systems, KMA large-size electrostatic filtration systems can be combined with further filtration modules for odor separation, gas scrubbing or heat recovery. In addition to further components for exhaust air purification, large-size electrostatic filtration systems by KMA Umwelttechnik can also be combined with the fully automatic KMA filter cleaning system (CIP). The filter cleaning system (CIP) ensures a permanently high of separation degree and minimizes the maintenance requirements of large-size electrostatic filtration systems.
The flexible integration of KMA large-size electrostatic filtration systems into existing ventilation and piping systems offers high potentials for cost and energy reduction.
